1) Agreement to Terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and KS HackZone. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Heads up: We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

2) Accounts & Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country).
  • Provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
  • Some features may be region-limited or require additional verification.

3) Acceptable Use

KS HackZone exists for learning and community collaboration around security challenges. You agree not to:

  • Attack, probe, or disrupt KS HackZone infrastructure (e.g., DDoS, scraping beyond reasonable use, exploiting the platform itself).
  • Circumvent scoring, rate limits, or access controls; share or trade flags/solutions to game the system.
  • Post unlawful, abusive, harassing, or infringing content, or violate others’ privacy.
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliations.

Reverse engineering and exploitation is limited to the challenge environments intended for that purpose—not the KS HackZone platform.

4) Content & Licenses

User-generated content (writeups, comments, profiles)

By submitting content, you grant KS HackZone a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical formatting, and display your content on the platform. You retain ownership. You may remove your content at any time; cached/backup copies may persist for a limited period.

Organizer-provided materials

Organizers represent they have the rights to share challenge materials with KS HackZone for archiving. We will always include attribution and links back to the organizer’s event or website where provided.

5) Challenge Archiving & Modifications

  • We archive CTF challenges with permission and link back to the organizer’s website/event page for credit.
  • To keep challenges functional, safe, and accessible, KS HackZone may modify certain challenge files or packaging (e.g., rebuild Docker images, sanitize secrets, adjust endpoints, patch broken dependencies, rehost assets). Organizer credit remains intact on the challenge page and associated materials.
  • If you are an organizer and prefer no modifications beyond minimal packaging, please clearly state this when sharing materials.
  • If you want your challenges removed or updated, see Takedowns.

Compatibility note: Some original challenge behaviors may differ slightly after packaging or security hardening, but we aim to preserve learning objectives.

6) Community Features

  • Users may join for free, solve challenges, publish/read writeups, and react (“love”) to writeups, challenges, and events.
  • We may run rankings/leaderboards; anti-abuse checks may adjust or revoke points if manipulation is detected.
  • We may moderate, curate, feature, or de-feature content to keep the platform useful and safe.

7) Intellectual Property

  • KS HackZone design, branding, and platform code are owned by us or our licensors.
  • Archived challenges remain owned by their respective creators/organizers; we display credits and links.
  • Logos, trademarks, and names belong to their owners; use here does not imply endorsement.

8) Sponsorship & Advertising

We may display sponsors or ads. See Why Ads? for more info. Sponsored placements or mentions do not constitute endorsement of a product or claim. We try to keep promotions relevant to security and learning.

9) Takedowns & Disputes

  • For IP or privacy concerns, contact us with details and links. We’ll review promptly. See Contact and Privacy Policy.
  • Organizers can request updates or removal of archived challenges they own or control.
  • We may request verification to prevent fraudulent claims.

10) Service Availability & Changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of KS HackZone at any time. Features can evolve (including scoring, APIs, formats, or UI). We may impose or adjust limits on storage, bandwidth, or access to maintain service quality.

11) Termination & Enforcement

Platform rights: KS HackZone reserves the full right to ban any user at any time and to remove any challenge, content, or feature at any time, with or without notice, including for suspected violations, legal requests, security concerns, or operational reasons.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. Some provisions survive termination (e.g., licenses granted for technical copies already made, legal, and safety obligations).

12) Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

  • KS HackZone is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that archived challenges will behave exactly as in the original event.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, KS HackZone and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or loss of data, profits, or reputation.
